A Simple Thank You

It’s been three weeks since our Iives changed forever and I owe some of you a great deal of gratitude. If you find yourself in this list—thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You were a beautiful wave of mercy to us.

You took us for coffee.
You took us to breakfast.
You took us to lunch.
You took us to dinner.
You sent personal letters.
You sent beautiful cards.
You left something special on the porch for us.
You offered to help.
You took us to the airport and let us sit more quietly than usual.
You sent gifts.
You sent books.
You showed up unannounced.
You texted.
You called.
You sent private messages.
You emailed.
You included us.
You invited us.
You accompanied us.
You didn’t take “no” for an answer.
You hugged us.
You shared our tears.
You asked, “Why?”
You didn’t ask, “Why?”
You stood outside the restroom waiting for one of us to recover.
You asked about our children.
You made us laugh.
You made us forget
You made us remember.
You matched us emotion for emotion.
You made us feel less alone.
You looked a bit longer into our eyes.
You understood.
You shared your story.
You prayed for us.
You focused our faith.
You brightened our spirits.
You reminded us of God.
